The best Bali itinerary: 10 days Bali itinerary
Today I’m sharing with you my ultimate Bali itinerary for 10 days in Bali. I just came back from Bali and it was absolutely amazing! We had 10 days to visit Bali, so we tried to make the most fo it! It was already my third time there but I wanted to go back so badly and see more of this island. There are so many beautiful places to see and hidden gems, it is impossible to see everything in one time.
Bali is the kind of destination you want to visit several times because you always have places in mind that you didn’t have the time to see! Bali has a great diversity in the landscapes, this is why I love this island so much. You can find rice fields, waterfalls, dream beaches, forests, cliffs, admire stunning sunsets and so on.
This time, I prepared a very busy and intense Bali itinerary because we wanted to visit a lot! 10 days is pretty short for Bali, this is why I have planned many activities. I will tell you all about the best spots to visit, the best hotels to stay and give you all my tips and tricks! If you are planning to visit Bali soon, this post is for you! Here is my itinerary:
1st day: Arriving at Denpasar airport

3th and 4th days4: Nusa Penida

A few informations to know before visiting Bali
When is the best time to visit Bali?
The best time to visit Bali and the islands around is between June and September. It’s the high season so the prices are higher but you are sure to see the sun! Of course, you need to book everything in advance, hotels and boat tours. You shouldn’t come during October and April it is the wet season!
What is the currency in Bali?
So, the local currency is the IDR, Indonesian Rupee. It is a very devalued currency, 1€ is equal to 15,000 IDR. Suffice to say that when you arrive in Bali and retire for the week, you feel like a billionaire! Needless to say that it goes very quickly with activities, hotels and restaurants!
How to get around in Bali?
You can rent a scooter, it’s a really cheap way to visit Bali, but if you want to make a long-distance it will be difficult. You can also take a taxi, it is really easy to find one in the streets. The price is around 7000 IDR per kilometer. You can easily calculate the good price and negotiate. So, for example, to go from Ubud to Leke Leke waterfall it will costs you around 500k IDH (30$).
The best Bali itinerary : visit the authentic Ubud
Ubud is one of my favorite places in Bali. Not only because the landscapes are to die for but also for the ambiance, the authenticity and the kindness of the locals. Ubud is located in the heart of Bali, only 1 hour 30 driving of the airport Denpasar. You can visit waterfalls, rice fields, see the monkeys in their natural habitat and eat local! Ubud should definitely be on your Bali itinerary because there are many beautiful places to visit.
Leke Leke waterfall
This beautiful and hidden waterfall is located only 1 hour driving from Ubud. You can take a taxi from Ubud, the price will be around 500k IDH (approximately 30$). It’s really easy to access, the hike is only 20 minutes. This waterfall is absolutely gorgeous, totally wild and if you come before 8 am it will be totally empty. You will have this beautiful place just for yourself! It was magical to visit this waterfall and have nobody around!
Tegalalang rice terraces
If you come to Ubud, you absolutely need to visit Tegalalang rice terraces! For me, it’s a must to see! This is one of the best places to visit and the most authentic places in Bali. When visiting the rice terraces you will meet the locals working on the terraces. They are really really kind, feel free to engage a conversation with them!
Campuhan ridge walk
This spot is amazing to hike and visit at the same time. It’s
Monkey forest
You absolutely need to go there and see the monkeys! They are so funny and amazing creatures! This is not a zoo, the monkeys are free in a natural forest, their natural habitat. There is a staff carrying for them and feeding them but they are totally wild.
Tips: By the way, there are a few rules to not offend them, because they can become quite aggressive. You must not look at them in the eyes, not trying to hold them, not hide food and so on, take the time to read the board! Be careful of your sunnies and your phone/camera, they can try to jump on your shoulder and to steal it!
Where to stay in Ubud?
There are many beautiful hotels in Ubud for all the budgets. From small boutique hotels, luxury ones to the local habitations. You can book a hotel where there is an infinity pool in the jungle, where it is possible to have a flower bath, a typical Balinese massage or a floating breakfast. But really, Ubud is so much more than this! The culture is really present and having moments with the locals and visit typical Balinese places is amazing.
Samsara Ubud
We stayed at the wonderful Samara Ubud. We had an amazing stay there! The infinity pool surrounded by the jungle was magical. We had a private pool in our terrasse. And we had dinner while watching a movie at the outdoor cinema. It was really fun!
You can find the full hotel review here.
The best Bali itinerary : visit Nusa Penida island
Nusa Penida is a must to see and should be on your Bali itinerary! is a beautiful island belonging to Bali and located only 45 minutes by boat. To go there, you need first to reach Sanur Harbor and take a boat to Nusa Penida. It will cost you around 500 000 IDR (30$). There are several companies and they are quite equivalent. Book your ticket online to be sure to have a place! But you need to know that the boats can be canceled because of the weather conditions. In this
Nusa Penida island is a beautiful island, and full of surprises, you won’t be disappointed! If you like nature, amazing cliffs, points of view and stunning beaches of turquoise water, you will probably love Nusa Penida!
Where to stay?
I stayed in Nusa Penida for 3 days (2 nights), I think it is the minimum to see enough of the island.
You can easily find a bungalow for less than 30$/night on the island. You can stay in the west of the island if you want to be close to Kelingking beach. Or you can find one in the east of the island if you want to be close to Diamond beach.
Diamond beach & the treehouse
I have done an amazing day trip with @nusa_penida_island and it was super fun! We have been first to the treehouse which is located
Then, we have been to Diamond beach which is really close to the treehouse. This was one of my favorite place in Nusa Penida, I was not disapp
Kelingking beach
Kelingking beach is seriously one of the most beautiful
Travel tip: The hike to go down is pretty hard (45 minutes approximately to go down and 1 hour to go up). But believe me it really worth it! This beach is an absolute paradise! The sand is white and the water is turquoise. If you want to do it, be careful in the stairs, bring water, and a hat. Also, when you make it to the beach, the first thing you want to do is to swim! Just, be careful of the big waves!

The best Bali itinerary : visit the Gili islands
This ultimate Bali itinerary wouldn’t be complete without talking about the beautiful Gi islands. We ended this amazing trip by a stay in Gili’s island. These islands are belonging to Lombok, an island near Bali. There are three islands: Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan, also called “Gili T’.
Last year I went to Gili Meno, it was beautiful and really quiet and relaxing. This year I wanted to see something new and I went to Gili T. This really looks like Gili Meno but there are more hotels/restaurants/bars/diving centers and so on. Also, it is way more touristy. The Gili island you will choose for your stay is depending on what you are looking for. You can also read “which Gili island is the best for you?“
I really loved this Gili island because the beaches are dreamy and the ambiance is really cool. If you want to have a drink and eat tapas in front of the sunset, there are amazing spots!
How to get to the Gili islands?
To reach Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili T, from Bali, you need first to go to Padang Bai or Amed harbor and take a boat for approximately 2:30 hours. The taxi can also pick you up at your hotel 1 hour before, sometimes it is included in the price. The best is to talk with them by What’s app.
Like the other islands, there are several companies and they are quite equivalent. Book your ticket online to be sure to have a place! But you need to know that the boats can be canceled because of the weather conditions. In this case, you will receive an email the day before and you may have to wait a few days to have another boat. This happened to us, we had to wait 3 days and we came back to Padang Bai to take another boat.
Where to stay?
You can find easily a cute bungalow in front of the beach, or a luxury villa with a pool. There are cute accommodations for all the budgets! Be sure to book at least 3 weeks in advance because Gili T is a popular destination.
Kelapa villas
We stayed at the beautiful Kelapa villas in Gili T, located just 5 minutes from the beach by bike. To go from the harbor to the villas you can walk, it’s only at 20 minutes. Please don’t ride horses carriages! These poor horses are not well treated. if you choose to walk to will participate to stop this business and do your daily cardio 😉
These villas were absolutely gorgeous. We had a beautiful one-bedroom villa with a private pool and an outdoor shower. We also had an amazing floating breakfast in the pool of the villa with fresh juices and fruits. They also rent bikes
If you want to visit the Gili’s read our post about Gili Trawangan here.

To conclude, this Bali trip was absolutely amazing! It was quite intense because we have visited 3 islands in 10 days and we have done many hikes but was really worth it! We had the chance to admire wild waterfalls, magical sunsets, meet the locals, play with monkeys and swim in turquoise waters!
