Where is located Santorini?

Firstly, Santorini is a Greek island located in the Cyclades. As Mykonos, Milos or Sifnos or Ios. This group of islands is located in the southeast of the main island. These islands are popular destinations, known for their beautiful white and blue landscapes, beautiful beaches, and ancient cites.

What is the best time to visit Santorini?

The best time to visit Santorini is spring and summer in Europe. So it is between April and September. But you should avoid going there in July and August as it is the high season and it is very touristy. The best months are May/June and September.

How to get to Santorini?

You can book a flight to Athens and then take a local flight to Santorini with Aegean airlines or Olympus airlines. It takes around only 50 minutes and it will cost you around 150$ per person for a return ticket.

Also, you can decide to take the ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Santorini. It is around 5 hours and the price really depends on if you take the tickets in advance. Once you are at the airport or the harbor, you can take the local bus or take a taxi to go to your hotel. Sometimes, the hotels are booking transport for you.

What are the best places to visit?

Oia

Firstly, one of the most beautiful places to visit is the village of Oia, located in the north of the island. This village is seriously one of the most beautiful things I have never seen. All the houses are white, and the domes of the churches are blue. Every corner of the village is so picturesque and unique. And wait for the sunset at the “sunset point” you will assist to a magical spectacle! The village of Oia is really small, you can visit it in one day.

Imerovigli and Fira

Then, you can also visit Imerovigli and Fira which are pretty and typical villages located in the center of the island. If you are planning a trip to Santorini, you need to know that these places are also beautiful and there are amazing hotels there.

The Volcano

Moreover, you can also do an excursion and visit the Volcano, just in front of the island. Its a day excursion where you can hike to the Volcano. You can see it in the photo at the right!

How to get around in Santorini?

You can take the local bus which deserves the island. It is a really nice way to visit the island and to go from Fira or Imerovigli to Fira. It is really cheap and the bus is really comfortable.

However, you can also rent a quad/ATV. It is around 35$ per day. It is a good way to be more autonomous but you should be careful on the road.

Where to stay?

Chromata Santorini

We stayed at the wonderful Chromata Santorini which is one of the most beautiful resorts on the island. Everything was absolutely perfect. The rooms in the caves were luxurious, everything is white, minimalistic and chic. The private terrasse with a view on the Aegean sea is perfect for a romantic breakfast. The main pool with a view on the volcano is to die for. There are no many rooms in the hotels, this confers to this place a very intimate, private and romantic ambiance. Also, there are privates hot tubs always with an amazing view. If you can stay there I highly advise it!

However, if you can not afford this hotel, there are many other beautiful hotels in Fira, Imerovigli or Oia around 120$ per night also with beautiful pools, views on the sea and typical caves rooms.

Where are all the best restaurants?

Honestly, you should just walk in Oia or Imerovigli and stop when you like the atmosphere or a restaurant! The restaurant in front of the sunset point is really nice, they have typical greek food, pita bread, and greek salads. But there are many others that are really nice too.
